About

Although Taiwan and Lithuania have a long history of interaction since Lithuania’s re-establishment of independence in 1990, the information about economic, cultural, people-to-people, academic and other types of cooperation has been rather scattered and there was no resource that would be easily accessible, comprehensive, and attractive to anyone who is interested in the topic of Lithuania-Taiwan ties.

To fill this gap, this website was created in 2024 with three goals in mind: 1) to inform people who know little about Lithuania-Taiwan affairs by providing basic facts, 2) to serve as a go-to resource for anyone looking to refresh or update their knowledge, and 3) to be an authoritative and trusted source of information that can inspire further cooperation between the people of Taiwan and Lithuania.

To increase its outreach, the website is provided in three languages: Taiwanese Mandarin (traditional characters), Lithuanian, and English. The website is planned to be maintained for the foreseeable future, with its contents continuously expanded and updated.

The creators of the website are staff of Centre for Asian Studies at Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania): Assoc. Prof. Dr. Linas Didvalis and PhD candidate Jiabin Song.

The website would not have been possible without the generous support of the Spotlight Taiwan program and the Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania.
